My Inspiration! ParalympicsGB 2012 team, thank you

But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.  ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’..His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! Matt 25:26

Looking back at the last 2 weeks, I have continuously stood in awe of the paralympians, their zeal, their tenacity, their dedication and inner strength to pull from within, to see beyond the physical far into the spiritual.  The fallacy of this reality and sadly true, is that as an able body we seem to think we got it all together, ‘the lucky perfect breed’ vs the poor ‘disabled to be pitied breed’.

The irony is that we are the butt of the joke and I bet God sits on His throne, laughing at us the so called able body, ‘what a bunch of fools’ he says. Always ungrateful, always complaining, always bitter and selfishly self centred. Its a funkified breed of ‘me, myself and I.

Can you imagine us with two legs, sighted in perfect health, yet lazy, uninspiring and unmotivated.  Depression has become a second nature, the inability to rise above our circumstances. I’ve come across some people who have  got it all together with regards to their faculty but are the biggest moaners in the world!.

Then comes Alex Zanardi and Formula One driver who had both legs amputated in a ghastly accident in 2001, I mean how bad can it be, a F1 driver! and 2012 be is the handcycling gold winner!, a New York marathon winner.

What about David Weir born disabled with a spinal cord transection who has a total of 6 golds!. Then their is Elanor Simmonds who was born with dwarfism won double gold at the age of 13!, the youngest MBE holder ever!  I’ve got high expectations of myself. I’m quite a competitive person and I hate losing.

For people like me and you, well we ‘specialise in the mastership of minimalism’. Perhaps its time we wake up and let this season be a wake up call for you and I, stop complaining about what you have not and look at what you have. Reach down within and let your light shine.

Its about time we live life, let our light shine, reach out from within, if you are unhappy about a part of your life, change it. You gotta take some chances, you gotta risk losing it all, you gotta close your eyes and leap because it might be worth the fall. Life is full of regrets, YOU just don’t LIVE IN your regrets!.

As we grow older, it’s not the things we did that we often regret, but the things we didn’t do. That’s why God created tomorrows for us.

I say thank you once again to the ‘angels of hope’ for lifting the torch of hope and lighting it for us all to see. God bless you all!
